Nutty Pecan Tart
Crust- To your favorite pie crust recipe, add 1/4 cup ground pecans. Mix well. Roll out to 1/8 inch. Cut circles, 6 inches in diameter and place onto greased 5 inch diameter pie dishes. Press edges and flute to decorate. Cut excess dough. Prick with a fork.
Filling- Mix 1 cup granulated sugar with Karo syrup (light or dark), 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, pinch of salt and 3 eggs. Mix well, do not beat. Pour into tart shells, 2/3 full. Carefully place pecan halves all over the surface of the tart, to cover all the filling. Add a small piece of butter or margarine onto the pecans (about 1/2 teaspoon).
Bake at 350° for 40 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is set. (When you insert a toothpick and it comes out without liquid)
